MESSAGE FROM DIANE HESKETH OUR CEO

Dear All

Firstly I'd like to express thanks to each and every member of the staff team at Natural Breaks on behalf of myself, Trustees and Senior Managers for the work our staff are doing on a daily basis, in the best interest of the people we support, in the face of much uncertainty as we respond to the Coronavirus outbreak. From the onset of this situation our staffs main concern has been around the people that we support and seeing peoples passion, loyalty and genuine commitment is inspiring.

Thank you also to our families and carers who have been so co-operative and understanding as their loved ones support has been impacted. We know and feel the pressures this must have placed upon you.

As you will know things have been changing by the day and this is a situation that we have never faced before and whilst we do not have all the answers I am reaching out to you to update on how we are responding based upon what we know at this time.

What we are doing and what we will continue to do:

  • We are following guidelines from the government closely on a daily basis as they are changing so rapidly
  • We are keeping abreast of guidance from Public Health England and NHS England, particularly in relation to infection control, good hygiene and steps to reduce risk of catching or spreading Coronavirus including social distancing and self- isolation.
  • We are following sector guidance including from the Care Provider Alliance (CPA) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
  • We are a member of the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG) who are co-ordinating responses, questions and intelligence across the sector and who liaise and lobby with government on our sectors behalf.
  • We have incorporated COVID-19 into our Natural Breaks Business Continuity Plan and are implementing actions.

Operating for almost 30 years, Natural Breaks has faced many challenges and always emerged stronger. This is because the people we support are at the heart of all we do and because our staff have a history of doing the right things for the right reasons and frequently going above and beyond. With this commitment in mind, and working positively together with staff, people we support and their families and our partners, I am confident that we will overcome this challenging time as well. Thank you again for all you are doing.

Please take care and best wishes,

Diane
