For several years, Liverpool and Newquay Lions have sponsored Natural Breaks to run an annual week-long trip to Cornwall.

 

The dedication and support, from the Lions, has enabled individuals at Natural Breaks to access a holiday, that otherwise might not have been possible, with opportunities for connection and exploration.

 

At the end of March, the Lions hosted their yearly Gala evening at The Liner Hotel. The venue was buzzing with excitement and engaging conversations. Organisation leaders, selfless fundraisers, teams and people supported by Natural Breaks gathered together, to celebrate and connect. There were some familiar faces, and others meeting for the first time, but the event carried real weight, where the work and positive impact of all in the room, was recognised. 

 

With a three course meal included, the evening was off to a fantastic start. But that wasn’t the most important or exciting part. It was the people and the atmosphere in the room. There was an undeniable feel-good energy throughout the venue, which was echoed by the stories and videos of those supported by Natural Breaks and our teams, grooving the night away on the dance floor!

The power of dedication

Alongside sponsorship from both Liverpool and Newquay Lions, Natural Breaks strive to reduce prices to make the visit to Cornwall as affordable as possible, through our ‘Take a Break Project’. The project was set up in 2021 with the aim to directly address challenges and barriers faced by disabled people, so individuals had access to the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers.

 

The ‘Take a Break Project’ stands to not only enhance the well-being of beneficiaries but to empower individuals to connect with one another, explore new environments, build friendships and foster confidence. Our work is needed now more than ever, with current affairs, and our hope is to support as many people as we can, and spread our impact across the city and further afield.

“Newquay and Liverpool Lions have sponsored our annual trip for so many years. Having sponsorship means that people who may not be able to go on holiday, typically, can and have an action filled week, whilst providing respite for parents and carers. It’s such an amazing opportunity for people we support, but we never take it for granted and are so incredibly delighted whenever we get the chance to go again!

When we were asked to attend the annual charter event, for 2025, we couldn’t say no. We never do because it’s our way of saying thank you for the opportunities we have been afforded. And as it’s a celebration- everyone who goes along has such a good time!

We’re so thankful for the help from the Lions Club who, with additional funds from the Natural Breaks ‘Take a Break Project’, support people to have affordable holidays within a beautiful destination”.
