Safeguarding Training with Pathways Associates At Natural Breaks, we believe that training isn’t just for staff – it’s for everyone. That’s why we’re so proud to have co-produced a timetable of training courses, throughout May, for people we support with our Have Your Say Group. The first session took place on Thursday 8th May and saw us work alongside Pathways Associates, a not-for-profit organisation that champions inclusion and learning, to deliver safeguarding training. Through Easy Read materials, supported group discussions and creative learning tools, people we support were able to really connect with the course. A More Inclusive Future Pathways Associates are critical partners in creating learning opportunities that truly make a difference. Their approach is rooted in partnerships - with disabled people, families and organisations – to break down barriers and support inclusion in community life. By working together, we were able to deliver training that was informative yet fun and accessible. People we support were able to learn about their rights, abuse and staying safe. We are committed to building a future where people with disabilities are celebrated and empowered. Through our work with Pathways Associates and our training courses throughout May, Natural Breaks are able to continue fulfilling our mission and making a real difference to people we support. “I know about being safe” Before the first safeguarding session, many people we support did not know what the term ‘safeguarding’ meant or how to keep themselves safe. Paul, who has been supported by Natural Breaks since 2013, said: “It’s been really good [today]. I know more about being safe and what to do if I don’t or my friend, Anthony, doesn’t”. Looking Ahead We’re excited to continue working with Pathways Associates to deliver our next safeguarding course on Thursday, 15th May to explore more about keeping safe, reach more people we support and strengthen the values that underpin everything we do.
