Rebecca started being supported by Natural Breaks, over fifteen years ago, after we changed providers. Initially, our family met with the prior CEO, Jan, alongside the Social and Learning team who were kind, friendly and gave my mum, and I, the reassurance that Rebecca needs would be met – and they always have been. 

Rebecca's Journey

Natural Breaks have always been person-centred and supported Rebecca extremely well, with regular reviews and telephone calls to make sure her support continues to be right for her.

Over the years, Rebecca has lost close family members and there have been times when it’s been difficult for her to get out the door. However, her support has changed many times to meet her changing needs. 

How Natural Breaks Helped Rebecca Shine

Rebecca loves her staff team and always has a favourite. In the past, and on numerous occasions, she has asked to change support staff and the team at Natural Breaks have been accommodating.

Her staff are always looking at trying new things, although as Rebecca gets older, the more stuck in her ways she has become but they accommodate this well. Her favourite things to do watching the buskers in town, going to the farm to see the horses or going to the cafe to get her favourite drink – diet coke!

Alongside that, Rebecca has been supported to attend the theatre and watch her favourite pantomimes, go the cinema to see the latest romantic or musical film and even visit the first station – she was well known for loving a fireman.

 The team around Rebecca know how important the people in her life are and make sure that she gets to keep in touch with them on a regular basis, including going to Kemps Café to see her best friend, Christine.

An Inspirational Impact on Rebecca's Family

Through the support Rebecca receives, my mum now has a break from her role as a carer, and it has enabled me to be able to work full time – with the knowledge that Rebecca is supported well. Support staff are extremely supportive of me which is a great help and will keep me updated as and when needed. 

Looking at the future, I hope that the support continues for Rebecca so she can go out and do the things she enjoys. 

We, as a family, cannot thank Natural Breaks enough for the continued support of Rebecca. Life at home has changed recently and our parents are getting older, but with the support of her team, Rebecca has adjusted well.
