The Breakers: Chrissie's Spring Break For many, a weekend away is a simple treat – a break from the routine, a chance to unwind and relax. However, for individuals with disabilities and those we support, planning a break can come with extra barriers: financial constraints, accessibility concerns and support availability. That’s why at Natural Breaks, we have ‘The Breakers’ – our fully accessible Welsh caravan, complete with subsidised rates, thanks to our ‘Take a Break Project’, that makes getaways more inclusive, affordable, and meaningful for the people we support. An escape from the hustle and bustle Chrissie, who is supported through our Social and Learning department, recently enjoyed a weekend at ‘The Breakers’. For her, it was more than a holiday – it was an opportunity to escape the stresses and worries of everyday, to explore new environments and have fun. Making a difference, one step at a time The fundraising efforts and donations towards, alongside the simple existence of our ‘Take a Break a Project’, combined with ‘The Breakers’, has enabled individuals at Natural Breaks to access short breaks and longer holidays throughout the seasons, that otherwise would not have been possible. One aspect in which this is achieved, is through our mission to ensure that the coastal caravan, based at Lyons Winkups Towyn, remains affordable. Since 2019, Natural Breaks have had ‘The Breakers’ – a name voted most popular, from a poll. Its purpose is to remove barriers faced by disabled people, such as financial or physical challenges, and make the possibility of a short break transform into a tangible reality.
