Paris Paralympics: The most accessible games yet “The Paralympics have begun and Paris is set to be the most accessible games in history. This year’s Paralympics have been designed to ensure that all athletes, spectators and participants can fully engage in and enjoy the event. There is a fully accessible public transport system with metro stations, buses, trains and taxis equipped with ramps, lifts, priority seating for disabled people as well as audio and visual announcements. The venue features accessible entrances, seating, toilets, changing rooms, lighting and sound systems alongside assistive devices and services such as wheelchairs and sign language interpreters. Accessibility and inclusion have played a part in the creation of the Paralympics 2024. It does beg the question though, why can’t accessibility be considered to this degree in every aspect of life? Why do disabled people continue to encounter barriers with accessing services, public transport and venues? The level of inclusive thought put into the Paralympics should be rolled out across the UK. Everyone has the right to live their life independently and be part of their local communities”. Natural Breaks Natural Breaks’ CEO will be attending the Paralympics closing ceremony.
