Louis' Story When I was in my first year of university, I was involved in a road traffic accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury which caused me to become neurologically impaired. As a result, I lost all controlled movement along my left side meaning that I was a wheelchair user throughout my earliest stages of neuro rehab. After the accident, I was on a life support machine and the doctors didn’t think I was going to be able to pull through. They told my family and my boyfriend, Donnie, to prepare for the worst. But here I still am today, alive and kicking! Throughout my neuro rehab, my support staff have truly helped me to come out of my shell socially and really have motivated me to get out of the wheelchair, and back on my feet. Of course, it goes without saying, that the process was very difficult. It took years of hard work and determination! My support staff helped me grow a new found confidence, especially with regards to walking. I couldn’t have done it without them! Manage Cookie Preferences
